thornhill pupilsOur Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple, we want the best for all those connected with our school.

At Thornhill we aim to provide the highest quality of education, so that children achieve to the very best of their ability as well as helping all our children become happy, confident and successful individuals.

We strive to create a happy, friendly, safe and encouraging place where everyone feels welcome and valued; where children are inspired to learn; a place where achievement is expected and is celebrated; a place where all members of the school community care about each other and are kind to each other; a place where behaviour is good and where success of all kinds is noticed so we can take pride in all that we do.

We are very lucky to have an extremely dedicated and supportive staff team who work very hard to provide the best opportunities for all our pupils in a safe and happy school environment.  Through our curriculum children become confident, resilient and independent learners, who have a passion for learning.  In addition to our curriculum, our wider school life supports our children to become responsible, respectful, tolerant and kind citizens of the future.

Every child is given the opportunity to succeed beyond the classroom and our children experience rich opportunities that form memorable experiences.  We hold high expectations and high aspirations for all of our young people.

Learning Behaviours – SMART

In School we only have three rules:

  1. Learning – We come to school ready to learn and we don’t stop others from learning
  2. Safety – We aim to keep ourselves and other people safe in all we do
  3. Respect – We respect ourselves and others in our community

Our rules help us to manage our behaviour effectively. In school we call our behaviours SMART.
