thornhill pupilsOur Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple, we want the best for all those connected with our school.

At Thornhill we aim to provide the highest quality of education, so that children achieve to the very best of their ability as well as helping all our children become happy, confident and successful individuals.

We strive to create a happy, friendly, safe and encouraging place where everyone feels welcome and valued; where children are inspired to learn; a place where achievement is expected and is celebrated; a place where all members of the school community care about each other and are kind to each other; a place where behaviour is good and where success of all kinds is noticed so we can take pride in all that we do.

We are very lucky to have an extremely dedicated and supportive staff team who work very hard to provide the best opportunities for all our pupils in a safe and happy school environment.  Through our curriculum children become confident, resilient and independent learners, who have a passion for learning.  In addition to our curriculum, our wider school life supports our children to become responsible, respectful, tolerant and kind citizens of the future.

Every child is given the opportunity to succeed beyond the classroom and our children experience rich opportunities that form memorable experiences.  We hold high expectations and high aspirations for all of our young people.

Learning Behaviours

At our school high standards of behaviour are expected.  We are a small and happy school and we ensure we work to fully support all of our pupils.  We recognise that for our children to achieve their full potential there is a need for them to feel safe, secure and happy.   We want all of our children to thrive and flourish.

We have a whole school system for rewards and our pupils are placed in houses.  Our children receive GEMS equivalent to house points and these are recognised across the school on a daily basis.  GEMS are awarded to children and allocated to the appropriate team. We reward the teams with the most GEMS weekly.
