Weekly Message from the Headteacher

Santa Claus is coming to town…

Our Christmas festivities are in full swing in school now and the children are already excited in anticipation of the big day. It is always a magical time in primary schools and our amazing staff are doing all they can to ensure that despite the restrictions of the pandemic, the children will get a wonderful primary Christmas.

Thank you for your work in keeping to the strict obligations for living in a Tier Two area. It is important that we do all we can to reduce the spread of infection so that we can have a covid-free Christmas. You will have received information about reporting any positive cases in your children whilst school is closed. During the holiday period, any positive cases which are for children showing symptoms or getting a positive result within 48 hours of school closing on the 18th December, need to be reported. Our dedicated email will be used for reporting this information and will mean that intelligence pertaining to school ‘bubbles’ is communicated in good time. I am sure that all families will want to ensure that during the five days of household mixing over Christmas, they are doing all they can to keep loved ones’ safe. Similarly, this email address can be used to report positive cases prior to school returning in January so that school can be prepared for any incidences of home-learning for those requiring to self-isolate.

It will be an unusual Christmas holiday this year, but it is perhaps a good time for reflection on what we have learnt as a community and as individuals during this unprecedented time. I know many people have taken up new hobbies or found time to resurrect old passions that had got lost in normal day to day life. Many people have realized that high levels of consumerism wasn’t making them happy, and time spent outside and with family was more important. I know that I will reflect on the resilience of our wonderful children and amazing staff team who have been superheroes in a million different ways over the last nine months. I also want to thank you for doing your bit to keep our school community safe.

Enjoy the last week of this school term and don’t forget that school finishes after lunchtime on Friday 18th December.
