Weekly Message from the Headteacher

Welcome Back!

It is wonderful to see how well children have come back into school for the new term. They look very smart and keen to learn new things. It is fantastic to see a number of children using our WRAP provision too. We are lucky that we can offer this service and hope parents will find this useful in terms of childcare provision and in order to provide enrichment and a safe and secure social time with their peers before and after school.

Last week the school adopted the new version of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this is a statutory document which states the legal requirements in terms of Child Protection and safety which people working in schools must work to. Copies can be found on the website for your reference. We take Safeguarding very seriously in school and as Designated Safeguarding Lead it is my job to monitor the wellbeing of our students in and outside school. If you have concerns about a child, please contact me via email or in person. However, you can also make referrals yourselves if you have any concerns or worries linked to the wellbeing of young people. For the Cumbria Safeguarding Hub, phone 0333 240 1727, they can provide help and advice are available 24 hours a day. Although if you believe a child is in imminent danger you should contact the Police Service on 999.

There are lots of interesting learning activities planned for the next half-term and I hope you will be able to attend them. Moreover, meet the teacher events will be taking place soon to allow you to chat to your child’s teacher about their requirements and expectations of the year ahead.

If your child is in KS2 can we please have confirmation regarding the trip to London in February. There are still places available.
