Serving the whole community

Message from the Headteacher

Thank you for taking your time to read our weekly newsletters. These are an essential tool in communicating information to you, and helping you to feel part of our school community. This is especially important during this period of social distancing. We are always looking to improve our communications with you and a particular focus for this school year is to see how we can capture the view of parents more effectively and support them to help their child academically.

We are setting up an action group which will capture the views of various stakeholders including staff members, governors and parents. This is not a Friends of School or PTA, as it has the remit over both schools in our Federation and is not set up for the purpose of fundraising. Our initial meeting is after school (3.30pm) using Microsoft Teams on Monday 14th December. If you feel you would have something to offer this group then please email me directly.  I will send you an invitation to the meeting.

If you are interested, but cannot attend at this time or date then please email and let me know. We would like a wide variety of parents to get involved and share their views.

The email is:  figesw@westlakesmat.org.uk

The agenda for the first meeting is:

  • Are communications with parents are as effective as they can be? Can this be improved?
  • how can we capture the views of our parents across the federation more effectively than we currently do?
  • how can support parents to ensure attendance remains at national levels or better?
  • how can we better support parents during periods of home learning?
  • How can we support parents and improve their confidence in areas like phonics and maths calculation?

Thank you for your time and I hope several of you feel able to get involved,

Mrs Figes
