It was hard to think about what to write for our final newsletter of 2019- there is so much to reflect on from 2019 and also much to look forward to in 2020.
I obviously want to wish all of our families a wonderful Christmas break with lots of time for family fun, food and festivities. I always feel privileged that I get to spend part of the Christmas period with young children, for surely, Christmas is the perfect time of year for being around young people. The pure joy, innocence and magic of Christmas for children is infectious and is a great antidote to the negativity, misery and cynicism we often are confronted with in society.
Our Christmas events have been well attended so far, thank you for giving your time and money to them and for all the additional support you have provided in 2019.
From January 2020, there will be a few changes to staffing that you will notice, especially in KS2. West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust has provided some funding on a short-term basis to divide our KS2 class in the mornings into an upper and lower KS2 class for English and Maths. Mrs Murray will continue to teach Years 5 and 6 and Mrs Hawkrigg will extend her teaching hours and teach Years 3 and 4 in the mornings and some afternoons. We will be changing some of our support staff around and increasing support hours to accommodate this change. Support will still be in place however for those children who require it across school.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and volunteers who make this school a marvellous place to learn and to work. I hope they enjoy a restful and enjoyable break to spend with their loved ones.
Please remember that school finishes at 1pm next Friday 20th December and re-opens on Tuesday 7th January 2020 for the Spring term.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
