Burns Celebrations 2017

To celebrate Burns Night Key Stage 2 children worked hard in order to perform a Scottish dance which was enjoyed by the whole school. In particular the Nursery appreciated this routine as they have been learning about the Scottish celebration.

Children first learned the basics of Scottish dancing after returning from their Christmas and New Year break. Pupils learned about the significance of New Year for many cultures as well as the meaning behind the popular New Year's song: Auld Lang Syne. As a class we then sang and danced to the song, welcoming in the New Year and a new start for childrens' studies and friendships. This evolved and we added more and more steps to our dance. We then performed this to the music of Auld Lang Syne as it originated as a poem written by Robert Burns himself.
