Review 2015/16

Positive Outcomes:

1.    In Year 6 100% Pupil Premium pupils passed Reading, Writing and SPAG in KS2 tests

2.    In Year 2 Pupil Premium pupils were more likely to pass their KS1 tests than their peers in Reading and Writing

Concerns:

1.    Disadvantaged boys are still more likely to underachieve than girls through all year groups

2.    Poor attending disadvantaged pupils are more likely to underachieve

3.    Early Years pupils ( PP and non-PP ) struggle with Communication and English

The pupil premium was used for the following:

Action 1: Pay a senior staff member to oversee provision and also to work with individuals for one afternoon a week- focus on individualised support, providing feedback, creating aspiration and filling gaps in knowledge

Cost- £2, 618 TLR payment

Plus – £2,280+ staff costs

Impact: Year 6 and Year 2 PP results reflect time given to targeted students

Action 2: Support staff used to work with PP children on social and communication skills and to release additional staff for targeted interventions.

Cost-

£13,000- HLTA wages ( this includes running ‘free’ after school workshops for targeted pupils on healthy lifestyles and small group ‘social/ nurture’ sessions)

£8,00- STA wages (targeted one to one support for the Early Years/ KS1 including extra reading for those not reading at home)

Impact: Year 6 and Year 2 PP results reflect time given to targeted students, reduction in exclusions from school by ‘challenging’ pupils, pupil with ASC achieved very good Year 6 results

Action 3:Upskill staff to support with delivery of key interventions – Kidsafe training, behaviour training, dyslexia support and cover to attend networking events.

£500

Impact:  Kidsafe delivered to all pupils, quality of teaching improved for teachers/ teaching assistants, linked to support for PP with additional SEN/ other needs.

Action 4: Provide daily breakfast for Year 6 pupil, allowing for support and ‘time to talk’

£95

Impact: Pupil surpassed expectations, passing all SATs ( except Maths), progress was rapid in Year 6

Action 5: Focused family intervention through Early help for pupil with attendance issues

£unknown

Impact: Improved attendance in summer term, although still needs maintained as overall attendance for 2015-16 = 73%
