On Tuesday, I had the privilege of attending and being part of the joint school council conference at West Lakes Academy.
Arlecdon Primary, Thornhill Primary and West Lakes Academy will all be part of the West Lakes Multi-Academy Trust in September and so we have set up a joint pupil voice committee which will organise key events through the year.
At the all-day conference, we explored our school rules and values and realised that these were very similar. We discussed our Learning, Safety and Respect rules and how these helped us to know our rights and responsibilities in school. We then looked at West Lakes' Academy Values: Resilience, Respect, Appreciation, Freedom and Achievement. We found them displayed in many areas through the school and discussed what they meant. We worked with our friends from the other schools to realise that we see these values in Primary too.
We discussed a fundraising event for the 2019-20 school calendar and we also talked about a joint school event to help raise awareness for anti-bullying week in November.
Congratulations to Year 6 who received their SATs results this week. You all worked very hard and should be proud of your achievements and how prepared you are for KS3.
